SKEANIE Leather Shoes for Children

SKEANIE is an Associate Partner of The Australian Podiatry Association (NSW & ACT). All SKEANIE Shoes are designed in Australia and are Fair Trade Made. Please check our Sizing Guide to ensure you purchase the correct size.

SKEANIE leather shoes and boots are made from soft, comfortable leather and feature thin, flexible rubber and/or suede soles as this is recommend for growing feet. Our shoes should be worn as dress shoes. They do enjoy walking, running and playing; however, they do not like getting wet, being used as brakes on your bike or scooter, kicking a footy, climbing trees or walking through mud and dirt.

We recommend that you spray your SKEANIE footwear with a Shucare Water and Stain Repellent prior to wear. The best way to keep your SKEANIE footwear looking bright and new is to simply wipe over with a clean damp cloth or leather wipe. Applying Shucare Leather Conditioner and Renovating Polish will assist with maintaining their softness and colour. SKEANIE footwear should never be placed in the washing machine or dryer.

Metallic leathers are created using a hot press technique in which foil is bonded to the leather. Metallics are not as durable as regular leathers, and if the foil is scratched it will expose the leather underneath. There is no process we know of to re-foil shoes, so please tread with care!

SKEANIE shoes are handmade and sometimes they won't look identical, that’s because they’re not made by machines; they are made with real hands and love. SKEANIE Shoes are designed in consultation with Podiatrist and are designed to look after little feet.

Age of Your Child The first factor to consider is the age of your child. Babies, for example, don't really need shoes until they start to walk. In fact, it makes it easier for your baby to learn to walk if he or she has bare feet. For babies, it is simply recommended that you just use socks to protect their little feet from the elements. Once your baby becomes a toddler you will want to look for shoes that they can wear to protect their feet as they toddle about in the world. Their shoes will need to be breathable, with a firm yet flexible sole that will be easy for them to learn how to walk in. ...

How can baby shoes or toddler shoes affect the development of a toddler's feet? Footwear can play a big part in affecting the development of a toddler's feet. When a baby is born, their feet are made up of mainly cartilage and fat. As they grow, the cartilage will start ossifying to become bones. Poor fit and shape of baby shoes can cause malalignment of joints, restrict normal growth of the feet, and limit natural movement of foot joints. What features should you look for in toddler shoes? Once your toddler starts walking, shoes are only required to protect their feet against sharp objects, dirt and slippery surfaces while outdoor...

Here are some tips that will help you be certain that your children's shoes fit properly, and remove some of the nightmare elements of shopping for kids' shoes. When to Buy New Shoes for Your Child Unless your child complains that they are uncomfortable, you may not know when it's time for a new pair of shoes. It's a good idea to periodically check your children's shoes to make sure what they're wearing is still working for them. Look for particularly worn areas, or stressed seams. If the sides are bulging or wearing out more quickly than the rest of the shoe, then they may not be wide enough. Toes that bend upwards are also a sign of shoes that don't fit properly, and worn out...

Myths and false information abound about children’s shoes, and the footwear industry and even some pediatricians are not much help. The good news is once you understand what makes children’s feet unique, finding the right shoes—often inexpensively—for kids is easy. At birth, the newborn’s foot is soft and flexible, and is loaded with fat. That fat cushions and protects our feet, but when we start to walk, the fat begins to disintegrate. In the coming decades, due to everyday walking—not to mention, perhaps tight fitting shoes—that fat will wear away allowing our foot bones and their rough edges to dig into our skin, often causing corns, callouses, blisters and other painful ...
